What is it?
Arginine
Arginine (abbreviated as Arg or R) is a conditionally essential amino acid, it is an essential component of the urea cycle, the pathway by which mammals eliminate toxic ammonia from the body.
Arginine is involved in the biosynthesis of nitric oxide, which plays critical roles in various physiological processes in the human body, neurotransmission, vaso-relaxation, cytotoxicity and immunity.
This amino acid is involved in many of the activities of the endocrine glands (Bischoff et al., 2012).
Benefits of Arginine:
- Positively regulates cardiovascular diseases.
- Improves endothelial damage (poor wound repair).
- Improves protein synthesis deficiency.
- Strengthens the immune system.
- It is involved in the synthesis of creatine, polyamines and DNA.
- Lowers cholesterol to improve the capacity of the circulatory system.
- Stimulates the release of growth hormones.
- Reduces body fat levels.
- It facilitates the recovery of athletes due to its participation in the metabolism of urea.
Arginine in Enikia
It works to improve nutritional distribution in the cell, this is because it prioritizes the vasodilator effect that occurs due to the formation of nitric oxide in the blood. Vasodilation improves blood circulation and, consequently, a better distribution of nutrients; this same proportion generates secondary metabolites capable of strengthening or improving cell signaling and hormonal control.
