What is it?

Cysteine

Cysteine (abbreviated as Cys or C) is a non-essential amino acid, meaning it can be synthesized by humans. In some cases, supplementation may be required for babies, the elderly, people with certain metabolic diseases or who suffer from malabsorption syndromes or people with methionine deficiency.

Benefits of Cysteine:

  • It is a precursor of highly antioxidant molecules (glutathione).
  • Cysteine is an important source of sulfur in human metabolism (Paul M. Dewick, 2009).
  • Cysteine is essential for producing collagen. It affects the elasticity and texture of the skin and the health of the hair.
  • L-cysteine may help treat arthritis and hardening of the arteries.
  • Cysteine can help burn fat and increase muscle mass.

Cysteine in Enikia

This proportion of cysteine is designed so that the release of the thiol group of the amino acid forms a protein system (proteome) capable of improving and strengthening the receptor and cell surface proteins. The formation of this proteome allows maintaining better epigenetic control, better gene expression and optimizing the phases of the cell cycle through the activation of different metabolic reactions activated by cysteine.
